“WE CARE” HELPS EAC FAMILIES HEAL WITH $10,000 DONATION

EAC recently received a generous $10,000 donation from the WE CARE Fund, the charitable arm of the Nassau County Bar Association. WE CARE is a longtime supporter of EAC, and these funds will support EAC’s Nassau Supervised Visitation Program (NSV), which provides safe, supervised visits between children and non-custodial parents in a family-friendly setting.

“This donation will help EAC maintain its commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for parents and children to visit,” said Dorothy Worrell, NSV Program Director. “You need only see the smiles of joy in the face of a child or parent to know how important our work is. Just yesterday a father was reunited with his young son for the first time in 10 months. It was only the fourth time in the child’s life that they had been together. This father was so emotional that he broke into tears. At NSV we reunite families and help them to heal, which benefits the entire community.” Last year 1,749 visits were facilitated by Nassau Supervised Visitation.

WE CARE funds are raised by the legal profession and the community-at-large at various fund raising activities throughout the year. Nearly 100% raised is distributed through charitable grants to improve the quality of life for children, the elderly and others in need throughout Nassau County. In the 21 years since its founding, Nassau County attorneys have raised more than $2 million for more than 100 local charitable causes.
