NASSAU FAMILY TREATMENT COURT GRADUATE

Recently, the Nassau Family Treatment Court, one of EAC’s programs, hosted a graduation ceremony. The graduation is an extremely emotional experience for the graduates, their families, caseworkers and judges. The graduates have been reunited with their children after completing the program and are anxious to begin a “new life” free of substance abuse.

The goal of the Long Island Family Treatment Courts is to promote the rehabilitation of neglectful substance-abusing parents, the preservation or reunification of their families and/or permanency for their children. The program provides quality assessment of the substance abuse treatment needs for each parent appearing before the court on a neglect petition; provides close monitoring of the treatment progress of each parent in treatment; provides regular and frequent drug testing and court appearance for each parent involved in the Treatment Court; assess’ the needs of the children of these parents with appropriate referral for service; and implements plans for each family which identify problems, goals and interventions.
