Purpose: EAC's Vocational Services Program provides vocational rehabilitation services for individuals with a substance abuse history in Nassau County. The goal of the program is to assist substance abusers in getting back into the workforce as part of their overall treatment plan. EAC has been administering the Vocational Services Program since 1978, assisting over 4,000 individuals since the program's inception.

Description: EAC Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors assist clients in developing vocational plans based on all or some of the following: educational/employment history, medical needs, legal history, substance abuse assessment, family background, values, expressed interests, motivation, and vocational test information. Career exploration and job readiness activities may also be explored. This service is provided primarily for clients in treatment at the drug treatment agency site whenever possible.
EAC provides assistance to staff of drug treatment agencies in Nassau County regarding the development of educational and vocational programs, assessment of clients' educational and vocational needs and the identification of appropriate resources.

Funding: Funding is provided by the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), through Nassau County Department of Drug and Alcohol Addiction.
