Purpose: The SeniorNet Program provides computer instruction to people over the age of 50. Instruction is geared specifically for this population, many of whom have no previous computer experience. SeniorNet is a proven national model which provides technical assistance to local providers such as EAC.

Description: SeniorNet provides on-going computer classes on a variety of topics, including basic computer knowledge, word processing and use of the Internet. Trained volunteer instructors work with seniors in small group classes, held on site in EAC offices in Hempstead, at The William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center and The Bristal at North Hills. Students receive course materials and help with learning problems as they arise. Volunteer coaches assist with instruction, providing individualized support.
Interested individuals may register by phone, and pay a small fee for each course. Courses typically run one and a half hours one day a week for six to eight weeks.

Funding: This program is funded through private donations and fees for courses.
