Sanctions Intervention Project
80 Middle Country Road
Coram, NY 11727
(631) 854-2169

Purpose: The Sanctions Intervention Project assists public assistance recipients who are not in compliance with Social Service regulations and are therefore not receiving full benefits.

Description: The clients are referred by Social Service, assessed by EAC staff at which time service needs can be identified and brought to the attention of the Department of Social Services. It is vital to address sanctions because of the impact on housing and other services. The staff explains TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) requirements and offers information on maintaining compliance. The client will then be referred to the Department Case Management Project for further review. Once clients demonstrate compliance by keeping these scheduled appointments, benefits & services can be fully restored.

Eligibility: Suffolk County public assistance recipients, in sanctioned status, referred by the Department of Social Services.

Funding: The program is funded by the Suffolk County Department of Social Services.
