Purpose: Mission Employment focuses on the development of essential foundation skills and competencies which help clients to obtain employment, job retention, vocational skills, education, GED, degree or certificate and literacy or numeracy gains. The program targets 19-21 year olds from Hempstead and Uniondale.

Description: Mission Employment is designed for low income youth who have dropped out of school or are at risk of dropping out. Services include comprehensive assessment, case management, career counseling, tutoring, GED instruction, job shadowing, leadership development opportunities, supportive services, job placement assistance and retention counseling.
Other components of the program include on-site work experience; conflict resolution skill building; community service projects; computer assisted training and support services.

Funding: The Town of Hempstead Workforce Investment Board provides funds for the program.
