Purpose: The purpose of the Intervention & Career Development Program is to provide the vocational tools and soft skills necessary for both current and former gang members to become economically self-sufficient through positive life style changes.

Program Description: The Intervention & Career Development Program will provide counseling, mentoring and support groups to twenty-five (25) former and current gang members, ages 21 and above. The goal is to provide the clients with vocational and soft skills necessary to assist in career direction and community service. The Community Service Component will be for eight (8) weeks, each individual will work up to twenty (20) hours per week and will earn ten ($10) dollars per hour working with the Nassau County Parks Department and the Graffiti Removal Program. As clients progress, they will be offered placement into the Job Experience Program which will lead to unsubsidized employment.

Referrals to Community Based Organizations for substance abuse and mental health treatment, as well as parenting, relationship and healthy lifestyle workshops will be made available to the clients.

Funding: The Intervention & Career Development Program and gang intervention program is funded by the Nassau County Department of Social Services and is run in partnership with the Education & Assistance Corporation (EAC, Inc.).
