RIVERHEAD MOOSE FLUKE TOURNAMENT

The 12th Annual Riverhead Moose Fluke Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2008. The tournament has an adult division and a junior division (less than 16 years old). The tournament raises money for The Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center which assists abused children. Tournament Director, Capt. Ray Kelly, stated "We hope to raise more money for the Child Advocacy Center by having more anglers and more sponsors participating in the tournament this year."

Capt. Kelly is also pleased to announce that Spirit Airlines of Miramar, FL is the Top sponsor so far this year. Spirit Airlines has agreed to donate two Round Trip Travel gift certificates (one for domestic travel and one international travel) worth $700.00. Spirit Airlines recently started service from MacArthur Airport to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The gift certificates will be raffled off along with many other raffle prizes that are donated by local businesses. The Captain's School of Long Island in Calverton, NY donated a FREE OUPV Captain's Course (Value $650.00) as a raffle prize. Capt. John Lavelle of Rocky Point donated six beautiful framed Fluke Prints (Value $250.00) which are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in each division. Sea Tow Eastern Long Island in Southold donated $250.00. $200.00 dollars will go to the 1st Place winner of the Adult division and $50.00 will be awarded to the Junior Division Champion.

Last year, the tournament had 39 boats with 149 anglers and raised $2,500.00 dollars for The Suffolk County Child Advocacy Center. The tournament encourages adults to bring junior anglers and for female anglers to participate in the tournament. The entry fee for adults is $20.00 and for juniors is $10.00. All pre-registrants receive FREE tournament T-shirts. The pre-registration deadline is July 10, 2008. The boats must depart from and return to the Riverhead Moose Lodge Marina in Riverhead, NY.
